What is Skill-Based Education

Skill-based learning concentrates on hands-on skill development that prepares students for a career or job.  For years, students have been directed towards college, and there has been little opportunity to learn about schools that offer skill-based learning.

Almost half of our country is interested in options other than college but is mainly aware of these incredible higher education options.  Knowing the value of these institutions,  part of Break Through Potential's mission is to broaden this understanding.

Many of the programs offered by skill-based learning institutions place students on the same career path as college but in less time and at lower costs.

With advancements in technology and new jobs, these institutions have evolved and potentially made students more marketable than students pursuing the traditional route right after high school.

More Marketable than a Four-Year Degree?

Texas State Technical School, located in the Greater Houston Area, is Break Through Potential's favorite skill-based institution. They have adapted their programs to the modern world, making students more marketable than students following the traditional straight-to-university route. Learn what we love about TSTC.

High Demand Fields

Did you know that up to 85% of jobs in 2030 have yet to be invented?  TSTC continuously expands its program offerings to meet the needs of the workforce.  Their programs prepare students in high-demand fields with growth potential and substantial earnings.

TSTC also offers a variety of skill-based certifications that can be used to prepare students for their college major and career.

Flexible Scheduling

TSTC offers day, evening, and weekend classes.  Additionally, they offer courses on campus, remotely, or a combination of both.  These options allow students to pursue their education and a job on a full-time basis.

TSTC also offers different programs and certifications to students in high school.  Some of them are also dual credit courses.

Fast and Affordable

The programs at TSTC are overwhelmingly affordable.  On average, a full program costs approximately $15,000 and takes about a year and a half to complete.  Additionally, the price of their programs have not changed significantly over the years.  TSTC also offers financial aid assistance and accepts a variety of scholarships and grants.

Greater Marketability

TSTC has partnered with several universities that offer a unique shared program.  These partnering universities accept applicable TSTC classes for course credit toward a four-year degree.  A TSTC graduate can transfer into one of these universities as a junior, with their professional certification counting as the equivalent of an associate's degree (sixty credit hours).  Therefore, a student following this pathway can graduate with a bachelor's degree in four years with a professional certification, giving them a competitive edge in the job market.

It is easy to see why we love Texas State Technical College.
